Mission Trips
Arizona Baptist Children’s Services has a strong belief in going on Mission with God and for God, both locally and internationally. Trips and work projects are opportunities to make an impact in the lives of various communities, families and individuals. Our desire is to see God’s Kingdom expand where ever He sends us. These trips also become transforming experiences for those who participate.
Arizona Baptist Children’s Services currently partners with the Shelter of Love Center in Kampong Thom, Cambodia. It is through this partnership that ABCS first began exploring international mission trips. Below is a brief summary of our most recent trip to Cambodia:
From December 27th to January 6th ABCS had a mission team of 12 people in Cambodia. We were visiting the Shelter of Love Center in Kampong Thom, Cambodia. Through Mission Encounter 360, ABCS has been continually supporting this shelter since 2009. ABCS President Steve Hanna was a part of this team, making it his third trip to the shelter. It is due in part to his discovery of this shelter and passion to expand the ministries of ABCS to work internationally that began the 6th pillar of ministry which is Mission Encounter 360.
Our team was a mixture of both ABCS employees and non-employees. While we were in the country, we had the opportunity to see some of the different cities and experience the Cambodian culture which is so deeply seated in its Buddhist religion. It is an extremely spiritually oppressed culture with less the 2% of the population knowing the saving grace of Jesus.
While we were at the Shelter, we had the opportunity to conduct a Sunday school program for the kids, participate in their church service, conduct a VBS, teach at a local Christian English school and do some work projects. We all enjoyed these projects and the most amazing part of the trip was getting to know each child. There are currently 52 children at the Shelter of Love and we all got to connect with several kids during our time there. Each child has their own story and comes from such an extreme level of poverty that it is hard for most of us to even imagine, but they are still wonderful children of God.
We went to Cambodia to love and bless the people there through Christ. God then blessed and changed each of our team members through the wonderful Cambodian people with which we had the honor to share a brief part of our lives.
