God has called all of us to be wise stewards with the resources he has provided us. This goes for not only the resources we are blessed with during our life, but also what we accumulate and leave as a legacy when we pass away. God is continuing to expand his Kingdom each day and we all have the opportunity to be used by him to leave a lasting legacy in our families, churches and Christian ministries. What we have here on Earth cannot go with us when we pass away so we should not leave without a plan. Rather, through careful planning your resources can be used to fulfill the Great Commission of reaching every person for Christ even when you are no longer here.
Acknowledge God’s Ownership
You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. -Deuteronomy 8:17-18
We Are Not Guaranteed Tomorrow
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. -James 4:14
We Cannot Take Anything with Us
For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. -1 Timothy 6:7
We must be Good Stewards
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’" -Matthew 25:21
