On any given day over 400,000 children are living in foster care households. These children are often the victims of abuse and neglect; their placement may have been voluntary or involuntary, their stories may differ. Yet one fact remains the same. All of these children have learned survival behaviors. Our job as caregivers and custodians is to teach them new behaviors – socially appropriate ways of interacting with their environments. This seminar will help participants learn to differentiate between mental health issues and behavioral patterns and suggest strategies for working with each.  Please come prepared to share specific behavioral challenges you have faced as a foster parent. Leave with new insights and approaches to commonly encountered situations.
